Self Confidence

I came across an interesting comment about women self defence. According to this "Lady", who is an aikido instructor, she said that the most important self defence that a girl can ever learn is confidence.

Being confident projects a aura that tells surrounding people that you can stand on your own and that you are able to take care of your self. It is the image that you give others, especially would-be attackers. Attackers at not stupid and they look for easy preys. If you show that you can give them problem and that you are "time-consuming" they will stay away. They will weigh against time and effort to make their attack. If you are not worth the effort and time, they will stay away.

Having said the above, that does not mean that you should hold you head high, walk like a man, look tough, and walk in the darkest alleyway you can find. Caution and awareness is still called for. Remember to always listen to the little voice in your consciousness when it tells you to be careful.

Stay safe. Smiles and cheers.

Self Defence For Women

SELF DEFENCE

Self defence for women may not necessary means learning to fight. Sometimes it just as simple as following some common sense and remaining calm. Yeah I have heard it many, many times......how to remain calm when you are attacked? YOU CRAZY?! REMAIN CALM?!.... I have heard that comment thousand of times, and mostly do not believe me. NOW believe me it is possible and that is the most important aspect of SELF DEFENCE for WOMEN.

Self Defence: IMPORTANT Numbers to have on your mobile
  1. Police contact number
  2. Emergency Services number (esp. trusted tow services)
Self Defence: Walking in the Street
  1. Listen to your intuition. Not comfortable dont go. simple. This is important, listen to the little voice in your heart.
  2. Walk against the flow of traffic and not with it
  3. Carry handbags on the inside of you, away from traffic
  4. Have your boyfriend/husband/male friend walk on the outside nearer to traffic
  5. If actually confronted by someone, don't just hand over your handbag, throw your handbag to the side and run the opposite direction
  6. Never help anyone that will take you somewhere else. If you want to help contact the police.
Self Defence: Getting into the car and while in your car

  1. Park in bright areas and nearest to entrance.
  2. If your parking area is dark request a security personnel/colleague/friend to walk you to your car
  3. AlWAYS listen to your intuition
  4. NEVER search for your car keys as you are walking towards your car
  5. ALWAYS look at your back seat of your car as you approach
  6. ALWAYS enter your car with your backside first, so you can see if there is anyone approaching from the back
  7. Enter the car and NEVER seat there looking for your make-up, lipstick and such. Lock the car
  8. immediately.
  9. If there is a vehicle with a sliding door on the same side as the drivers seat. Get into your car from the other side.
  10. NEVER stop when strangers indicate some problem with your car. Drive to a location where there is plenty of people.
Better Safe than Sorry. Smiles and Cheers.
